Is it normal to feel lymph nodes in the groin?

A few weeks ago I noticed a small lump just above my groin on the right side which is about 2cm long. I went to see the doctor about it and he said it was fine and that it is normal to feel lymph nodes, especially in the groin. After he felt it he also felt other lymph nodes which I was unaware of and are a little smaller than the one I was aware of. All the nodes are under 2cm yet Im still not 100% sure if it is normal to feel these nodes?
