I have a disabilty question?

My S.o. has severe back and groin pain amongst many other pains in his shoulders etc... How do we know if he can qualify for disability? He has never had insurance so he hasnt been able to see a dr and he hurts too bad to work. He cant even finish a grocery shopping trip without having to go to the car.
